Swangz Avenue co-founder Julius Kyazze has sparked debate after claiming that some Christians who attend Phaneroo Ministries also enjoy Kampala’s nightlife, including concerts and visits to bars. Speaking on a local podcast, Kyazze recalled meeting Phaneroo founder Apostle Grace Lubega on a plane, where he proposed a possible partnership between the ministry and his entertainment company.

Kyazze suggested that the same people who attend church services during the week also seek entertainment over the weekend, creating an opportunity for collaboration between the two sectors. “Why don’t we make a deal? You are with our flock on Thursdays and you sell them hope.

But those same people come to me every Saturday to have some joy and enjoyment. I think there are synergies there,” Kyazze recalled telling Lubega.

He insisted that some Phaneroo members attend concerts on Fridays and visit bars on Saturdays, challenging the assumption that religious commitment and nightlife are entirely separate. According to Kyazze, Lubega laughed off the proposal, but he still believes partnerships between churches and entertainment companies could be possible.

His remarks have reignited discussion about how some Christians balance their faith with social life and entertainment in Kampala.
