Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine has made it clear that getting married would not mean giving up her music career, describing music as a major part of her identity and passion.

Speaking in a recent interview, the singer explained that music is not simply a way of earning a living for her. She considers it something deeply personal, and taking an extended break from it would have an emotional impact on her.

“For some of us, music is passion. It's something that if not done, I would feel sick,” she said.

Lydia said she also finds it difficult to imagine completely stepping away from releasing music for her fans, even after settling down.

According to the singer, the right partner should understand her commitment to music and support her career rather than expect her to abandon it because of marriage.

“I think the best a man would do is support me, move the journey with me and build me,” she added.

Lydia further noted that several married musicians have successfully maintained their careers, demonstrating that marriage does not necessarily have to come at the expense of music.

She said one of her hopes is to find a partner who values marriage while also understanding, embracing and supporting her musical journey.
