Maureen Nantume is a celebrated Ugandan Afro-pop and gospel singer and entrepreneur born on April 18, 1984.Early Life and BackgroundChildhood: Born in Uganda, she was raised by her mother, the late Robina Nakitende.Hardships: After her mother passed away in 1996, she faced financial struggles and dropped out of school in Senior Three in 2002 at Agro-Links Secondary School in Namasuba.Early Work: She worked as a housemaid in Namasuba for three years, earning 15,000 Ugandan shillings a month, while holding onto her dream of becoming a singer.Music CareerEagles Production: She joined the prominent Eagles Production band in 2003 as a dancer and backup singer for senior artists like Ronald Mayinja and Mesarch Ssemakula.Breakthrough: She released her early singles "Siri Ndogoyi" in 2004 (and 2007), followed by "Oyitirizza" (2005), "Nkwagala Nnyo" (2006), and the hit "Abakozi Ba Safari", which propelled her to national fame.Group Affiliations: After Eagles Production, she moved to the Golden Band and later pursued solo projects, releasing popular inspirational and afro-pop songs like "Ndi Muzadde," "Nkuze," and "Kaalala".Concerts & Awards: She celebrated milestones like her “My Story” Concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel in November 2025 and won accolades such as Best Inspirational Song and the Abryanz Style and Fashion Decade of Style Excellence Award.
